Privacy Policy

Where does this Policy apply?

This Privacy Policy is for users of CleanPath, an application owned and operated by Maxima Apps. CleanPath is designed to help users build healthier habits and support recovery from compulsive pornography use through tools such as app and web blocking, streak tracking, guided recovery activities, and an AI-assisted companion feature. This Privacy Policy applies to CleanPath and any related services operated by Maxima Apps. For simplicity, we refer to these as our “services” or “app” in this Privacy Policy.

In what circumstances do we obtain information from the user, and how is it used?

We can’t help you have a supportive recovery experience without some information about you. When you use CleanPath, certain information is collected depending on the features you engage with. CleanPath does not offer social login, social sharing, or any community features, given the personal and sensitive nature of the content you engage with in this app.

Information you give us

You choose to give us certain information when using CleanPath. This includes:

You may sign in to CleanPath using your Google or Apple account. This is used solely for authentication and to sync your account, and does not connect to your Google or Apple contacts, friends list, or any social graph. When you sign in this way, we receive basic profile information from Google or Apple (such as your name and email address, or an anonymized relay address if you choose Sign in with Apple’s private email option) to create and manage your account. We do not use this to identify or connect you with other CleanPath users, and CleanPath has no social or community features of any kind.

To use certain features, we may request access to your device’s camera, microphone, speech recognition, or Apple Music library. We only request access to hardware and system features that are strictly necessary for a specific feature to function — for example, voice input for journaling or daily check-ins, or access to your music library so you can play your own music during meditation, workout, or focus sessions. Apple’s operating system will ask for your permission before allowing us to access these features, and you may revoke any such permission at any time through your device settings without affecting your ability to use other parts of the app that do not require that permission.

We also collect the information you generate while using the app’s recovery tools, including your streak history, daily check-in and mood logs, journal entries, quiz responses used to personalize your recovery path, and your activity within guided exercises such as meditation, affirmations, and workouts. This information is used to power the features you interact with — for instance, showing your streak progress, tailoring your recovery plan, and generating your recovery analytics.

If you interact with our AI Support feature, the messages or prompts you enter are sent via API to our third-party AI service providers — OpenAI (ChatGPT) and Google (Gemini) — which process this content to generate a response on our behalf. Handling of this data is governed by OpenAI’s and Google’s respective API terms of service and privacy policies. We do not use this content for advertising and do not share it with advertising partners; it is used solely to provide you with the AI Support feature. Your conversations with the AI Support remain subject to the data handling practices of these providers in addition to this Policy.

For apps on Apple devices, we may also request permission under Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before accessing your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA). This system-level prompt will appear before any tracking begins, and no tracking will occur without your explicit prior consent.

We will also collect information when you use the app, such as which features you engage with and how you configure your app and web blocking settings, if such functionality is available to you.

Information collected when you use our services

When you use CleanPath, we collect information about which features you’ve used, how you’ve used them, and the devices you use to access the app. See below for more detail:

Usage Information. We collect information about your activity within the app, such as the date and time you use it, time spent in the app, and which features you engage with.

Device information. We collect information from and about the device you use to access CleanPath, including hardware and software information such as IP address, device ID and type, app crashes, app version, advertising identifiers (such as Apple’s IDFA, a randomly generated number you can reset via your device settings), browser type and version where applicable, operating system, time zone, and identifiers associated with cookies or similar technologies.

On Apple devices running iOS 14.5 or later, access to the IDFA requires your explicit consent through the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. If you deny this permission, the IDFA will not be accessed or used.

Apple App Store Privacy Disclosures

We disclose the categories of data CleanPath collects on its App Store product page as required by Apple. The data types disclosed reflect only what this app actually collects and are consistent with this Privacy Policy. No data category will be declared on the App Store unless it is also described here.

Sensitive personal information

CleanPath is a recovery-support app, and some of the information you provide — including check-in and mood data, journal entries, and your recovery progress — may be considered sensitive personal information under applicable law, including as it may relate to mental or behavioral wellbeing. We treat this information with additional care: it is used solely to provide you with the app’s core functionality (tracking your progress, personalizing your plan, and generating your analytics), and it is not used for advertising, sold, or shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Where applicable law gives you the right to limit our use of sensitive personal information, you may exercise that right using the contact details at the end of this Policy.

How we use information

The main reason we use your information is to deliver and improve CleanPath, help keep you on track with your recovery goals, and communicate with you when needed. In more detail, we use your information to:

Administer your use of the app and ensure its features function correctly, including your app and web blocking rules, streak tracking, panic mode, recovery plan, and AI Support feature. Provide you with customer support and respond to your requests. Use your email address (where provided, such as for support requests) to communicate with you about your account or the service.

Improve our services. We use Firebase, Google’s analytics tool, to analyze information gathered by the app so we can understand usage patterns and improve functionality. Device and usage information provided to Google in this process becomes subject to Google’s privacy policy, available at www.google.com/privacy.html. For more detail on how Firebase uses data, see “How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps” at www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/. We also use this information to research and improve the app’s features — for instance, refining the recovery plan or activities based on aggregated usage patterns, app errors, and debugging information.

Communicate with you. With your consent where required, we may send you notifications or messages related to the service, such as reminders about your streak or check-ins, as well as non-marketing messages related to your account, security, or product changes.

Legal and safety purposes. To prevent, detect, and address fraud or other illegal or unauthorized activity, and to comply with legal requirements, assist law enforcement where legally required, and enforce or exercise our rights.

Subscriptions and payment. If you purchase a subscription within CleanPath, your payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details, and Apple does not share your name, email, or other personal payment information with us — we only receive anonymized transaction data (such as whether a purchase was successful) to manage your subscription entitlement within the app.

Legal bases for processing

To process your information as described above, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract with you, as we use your information to provide the features of the app you’ve chosen to use; our legitimate interests, such as analyzing usage to improve the app; and your consent, which we ask for where required — for example, before requesting camera, microphone, speech recognition, Apple Music library access, or App Tracking Transparency permission. You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your device settings or contacting us at the address at the end of this Policy.

App Tracking Transparency (ATT) — Apple devices

If you grant ATT permission, we or our advertising partners may use your device’s IDFA to serve you personalized ads and measure advertising effectiveness across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you deny permission, we will not use your IDFA for cross-app or cross-site tracking, and any advertising shown will be contextual rather than interest-based. No tracking as defined under Apple’s ATT framework will occur without your explicit prior consent. You can change your choice at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

If you’d like to opt out of interest-based advertising more broadly on your device, you can do so through your device settings, though please note that you will continue to see advertising after opting out — it may simply be based on contextual usage rather than your interests.

Is your exact location tracked?

No. CleanPath does not track your precise location.

Do you share our details with third parties?

We share information only in limited circumstances: with service providers who help us operate the app (such as Google Firebase for analytics, and OpenAI and Google Gemini for the AI Support feature), where required by law or requested by government authorities, or to investigate fraud. We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as you use the app. If you delete your account or the app, your data will be removed in accordance with applicable law, subject to any legal retention obligations.

Access to personal data

You can access, update, or delete much of your information directly within the app. You can also permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app, without needing to contact us — go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. Deleting your account will remove your streak history, check-in and mood logs, journal entries, and quiz responses from our systems, subject to any copies we are required to retain for legal or fraud-prevention purposes.

Age restrictions

CleanPath addresses themes related to pornography and compulsive sexual behavior, and is rated for users 17 and older on the App Store. CleanPath is not directed at, marketed to, or intended for use by anyone under this age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If we become aware that we have unknowingly collected data from someone under this age, we will take steps to delete it.

Protecting your data

We secure our systems against loss, destruction, unauthorized access, modification, or distribution of your data through appropriate technical and organizational measures. However, the confidentiality of information transmitted over the internet cannot be guaranteed, and we encourage caution when transmitting personal information online. We are not obliged to store your information beyond the purpose for which it was collected.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information: to access it and receive a copy; to correct inaccurate or incomplete information; to object to, limit, or restrict our use of it; to request deletion, which we will honor unless we must retain the information for a legal obligation or overriding interest; to request a transferable copy of your information; and, where we rely on consent, to withdraw that consent at any time without needing to provide a reason.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent law, including the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to processing based on legitimate interests, protection from solely automated decisions that significantly affect you, and withdrawal of consent. We rely on the following legal bases to process your data: performance of a contract with you, our legitimate interests where not overridden by your rights, compliance with a legal obligation, and your consent where we have asked for it. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority at any time.

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, the right to delete it (subject to certain exceptions), the right to correct inaccurate information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information, and where we share device identifiers with advertising partners via IDFA, this only occurs with your ATT consent), the right to limit our use of sensitive personal information, and the right to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.

Additional privacy rights may apply under the laws of your country, state, or region, and we will honor applicable legal requirements. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request, and we may decline requests that are unlawful or would infringe on the rights of others.

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy as needed to reflect our current privacy practices. When we make changes, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Our commitment to protecting your privacy will continue regardless of changes to this Policy.
